Attendee Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Virtual Conference?
Virtual events are designed to allow attendees to gain knowledge, networking, and participate in a full Conference, when face to face meetings are not possible, such as during the 2020 COVID Pandemic. Virtual events are held on-line. The CAI Canada V-CON(DO) Virtual Conference features keynote presenters, panel discussions, breakout sessions, networking video chats in groups of up to 4 attendees, Virtual Exhibit Hall, and more! Virtual events provide a safe, open space for dialogue and discussions.

Over two days of learning, growing, and finding inspiration, attendees are equipped with education and knowledge to support them in their daily responsibilities as leaders in the Communities/Condominium industry.

If you haven’t done so already, for a sneak peek at our Virtual Conference Platform, we strongly encourage you to watch this short video to familiarize yourself with our event portal.

What Technology do I need to participate in a virtual event?
Virtual events take place completely online. The events use a virtual conference platform environment which allows attendees participate in sessions – we refer to this as your “attendee portal”. For the best experience, we strongly suggest using a desktop or laptop computer and Chrome as your internet browser. If you don’t already have Chrome, you can download it for free here.

As you join the event, there will be a check that your system is compatible with the virtual environment and to make sure your video and microphone are working correctly. You'll want to allow access to your microphone and camera to participate with other attendees and our exhibitors.

Do I need to have a webcam (or built-in camera) for the event? Although you do not need a webcam to attend virtual events, you’re encouraged to use your webcam during the networking sessions and virtual exhibit hall to allow for a face-to-face experience with other attendees and exhibitors.

We strongly encourage you to please access the attendee portal the day before the Virtual Conference begins, so that if you do have any problems, we can help you trouble shoot so you have no problems on event day! If you experience issues, please send us an email at: hello@caicanada.com

Do I have to attend the entire event?
Virtual events bring the experience of an in-person conference to your personal computer, so just like an in-person conference; you have the freedom to pick the sessions you attend. But many say that attending the event in its entirety—the keynote, breakouts, networking functions, visiting exhibitors, and closing sessions—will help you to get the most out of the experience.

All sessions will be recorded, so if you have to miss a session, not to worry, you will be able to access the Virtual Conference content via the Attendee Portal after the Conference ends. Session recordings will be available for 30 days.

How do I know the Virtual Conference Program Agenda?
To begin preparing for your virtual experience, preview the Agenda to view the numerous education offerings in a variety of engaging formats. Please note that this schedule may change so check back for the latest updates.

In the attendee portal, the schedule will appear as your “Timeline” on the left side of the main screen, and will be the key to how you preview and attendee sessions throughout the event.

How do I choose which breakout session to attend each day? Do I have to pre-select?
No! You can choose any session you would like to attend in each breakout session time block. Choose your favourite breakout session each day, and you can view the others after the event!

How do I log into the virtual event on September 16th and 17th?
The day before to the event, you will receive a dedicated email with your unique log-in. Do not share this with anyone – it is unique to you! This email will give you instructions on how to access the event Portal, and a reminder of your minimum equipment required to access the Virtual Conference.

How do I get help if I am having troubles accessing the Virtual Conference or navigating the event portal once I’m online?
If you test your system and visit the event portal prior to the event, and are experiencing and issues, please email: hello@caicanada.com

On September 16th and 17th, when you are logged into the event portal, if you require assistance, just click on the red Live Help icon located at the top right of your screen, and one of our team will be pleased to assist you!
