Hybrid aligner treatment (HAT) in orthodontics

Hybrid aligner treatment (HAT) is the combination of clear aligners and fixed appliances. At any point during HAT, one or more types of fixed appliances can be used, such as braces, expanders or MARAs, and auxiliaries. Ultimately, the rationale for HAT is to utilize the advantages of aligners, but account for their limitations in tooth movement. The purpose of this clinical lecture is to define the variations of HAT and quash the misconception that incorporating fixed appliances is an indictment of clear aligner treatment.

Learning objectives:

1. Understand the most common variations of HAT.

2. Learn Dr. Kravitz’s protocol for using a MARA with Invisalign.

3. Discover HAT clinical pearls that you can apply right away!

A Collection of Clinical Pearls (and more) for Your Practice!

Jackie Kennedy was famously quoted as saying that, “Pearls are always appropriate.” The same could be said about sharing orthodontic clinical pearls. Who doesn’t love picking up those invaluable tidbits hidden within a lecture? After all, clinical pearls are the easiest lessons to take home and immediately implement into practice. It is a passion of mine to share my clinical ideas with other orthodontists, and what better way than with a lecture entirely devoted to the topic. Be ready for fun and fast paced presentation chock full of clinical pearls.

Learning objectives:

1.     Canine substitution pearls

2.     Surgical Pearls, including open exposure and molar uprighting

3.     Retention pearls

4.     Challenging patient pearls
