Developed through eight years of research involving numerous experts, Bergen Gardens aims to set a new standard for elder care in Manitoba with thoughtfully designed features. It also stands out as the province’s first modern multi-storey mass timber building, offering sustainability benefits and promoting resident wellbeing through natural materials, improved acoustics, and a calming environment.

Founded in 1985 as Winnipeg Harvest, the organization began by collecting and distributing food within the city. Over time, it expanded its reach and impact, merging with the Manitoba Association of Food Banks to become Harvest Manitoba—a province-wide food network serving communities across Manitoba. Today, Harvest Manitoba distributes 13 million pounds of nutritious food annually, supporting over 50,000 people each month through food hampers. Its work is powered by strong community support, including thousands of volunteer hours each year. Over 40 years, the organization has grown into a vital provincial resource with a mission to collect and distribute food, provide long-term solutions, and advocate for those in need—all while working toward a future where no Manitoban goes hungry.
